How to make your own web site

Whether or Not to Design Web Pages in Flash

Choosing whether or not to design web pages in flash can be a difficult decision. While having web pages designed in flash can provide a cool looking website, there are also some businesses who will turn down any freelancer who tries to suggest a full website with web pages all in flash. One of the main reasons for this is because not everyone has flash readers on their computers and they cannot load and view the pages properly. When potential customers cannot load a web page, this is lost business.

In addition, many search engines do not read websites which are designed in flash, which can make search engine optimization rather difficult for these businesses. Content is the number one factor in search engine optimization. However, the content of a website that has been designed with flash won’t be read when the search engines scan the site, no matter how many keywords are in the file. This means the keywords won’t help relate and rank the site as expected.

However, this doesn’t mean that a website should never have any flash. Having one or two elements on a website in flash, such as a movie header, is fine. However, having too much in flash means the website won’t be optimized for search engines. This means fewer people find the website, and, ultimately, this means less business.

If a web site is designed with web pages in flash, then business owners just need to be prepared to do other methods of internet marketing in order to keep the website at the top of search engine rankings. It is important to remember and understand that most of these other internet marketing strategies can be more difficult and cost consuming than simply designing a simpler website.
